Work is Moving Along, Slow but Sure . . .

I am going to try to go back through this past year and write a new post on some of the projects that have been completed, mostly completed or are in progress.

In order to lay the hardwood floors, Kelly had to fix the rotten sub-flooring and the rotten floor joist in order to make sure we did not fall through the floor at the front door!!

This first picture shows the board (it's the one on the mat) that we placed over the hole near the front door when we first moved here almost 5 years ago.

Here you can see the rotting wood of the sub-flooring ~

Kelly is taking off the metal plate that was probably the cause of the leaking under the door that then caused the sub-flooring and the floor joint to rot over probably many, many years.

Here Kelly is tearing out the rotten floor to get to the rotten joists.

This is how much floor Kelly had to remove so he could fix the rotten joist.

This is all the crap he had to remove.

This is the new floor with the fixed joist underneath.

Good job, Kel!!  That was a lot of work!!

  1. Wow, that was a bad spot in the floor that I am glad no one had fallen through before it got repaired. Kelly seems to be able to do any and everything!
Thanks for this post. Looking forward to more!
